Chrysler shows it's still got spark

"[We're] looking at a full line of electric vehicles," Chrysler chief executive Bob Nardelli said on the CBNC business network. "We've made huge commitments, both from a resource standpoint and from a financial standpoint."

Chrysler unveiled three prototype electric vehicles at its headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., including the Dodge EV, an all-electric sports car based on a Lotus frame. The company says the car's lithium-ion battery can power it 240 kilometres on a single charge. Chrysler also showed so-called "range-extended" electric versions of its Windsor, Ont.-built Chrysler Town & Country minivan as well as the Jeep Wrangler, which use a small gasoline engine to power the main electric drive system and allow longer driving.
