"[We're] looking at a full line of electric vehicles," Chrysler chief executive Bob Nardelli said on the CBNC business network. "We've made huge commitments, both from a resource standpoint and from a financial standpoint."

Chrysler unveiled three prototype electric vehicles at its headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., including the Dodge EV, an all-electric sports car based on a Lotus frame. The company says the car's lithium-ion battery can power it 240 kilometres on a single charge. Chrysler also showed so-called "range-extended" electric versions of its Windsor, Ont.-built Chrysler Town & Country minivan as well as the Jeep Wrangler, which use a small gasoline engine to power the main electric drive system and allow longer driving.

-- CleanScapes, a City of Seattle Solid Waste Contractor, Opts to Deploy 40 New CNG Trucks; Major Environmental and Cost-Saving Benefits Projected --

SEAL BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CleanScapes, Inc., a newly-designated City of Seattle, WA solid waste contractor, has awarded Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq:CLNE - News) a contract for up to 10 years to build and operate a compressed natural gas (CNG) station and provide fuel for CleanScapes’ 40 new CNG-powered refuse trucks. Clean Energy’s fuel contract with CleanScapes includes a preferential fuel pricing provision. The new CleanScapes time-fill CNG fuel station, to be designed, built and operated by Clean Energy, will be located south of Seattle’s downtown area. Starting in April 2009, CleanScapes will deploy the CNG fleet to provide waste collection services to more than 64,000 residential and business customers in the Central and Northeast sections of Seattle.
Chris Martin, CleanScapes’ President, said, “Seattle has been a national leader in greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Our Mayor, Greg Nickels, has led the effort to have cities agree to abide by the Kyoto Protocol. During the bidding process we felt it could be to our advantage to propose a CNG fleet. After careful analysis we determined that a CNG fleet would bring significant environmental and economic benefits.”

Department of Energy - Loan Guarantee Program

Department of Energy - Loan Guarantee Program

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced three solicitations for a total of up to $30.5 billion in federal loan guarantees for projects that employ advanced energy technologies and that avoid, reduce or sequester anthropogenic emissions of air pollutants or greenhouse gases. The three solicitations are in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy and advanced transmission and distribution technologies; advanced nuclear power facilities; and advanced nuclear facilities for the 'front-end' of the nuclear fuel cycle. This marks the second round of solicitations for DOE's Loan Guarantee Program, which encourages the commercial use of new or significantly improved energy technologies, and is a important step in paving the way for clean energy projects.

Natural Gas Vehicles

Natural Gas Vehicles: "Natural Gas Vehicles

Natural gas (NG) as a vehicle fuel continues to grow in popularity with homeowners. With escalating fuel prices, natural gas offers many benefits: reduced costs, enhanced safety, single occupancy in High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) and carpool lanes with no bridge tolls and of course, cleaner emissions. Because it is a domestic resource, it promotes energy security for our country. These reasons make natural gas the alternative fuel of choice for our country."

Where are Seeps Found?: "Shaded Relief Map
Most of California's natural oil and gas seeps are in the area circled in white on this shaded relief map. The state's major underground oil and gas fields (known from drilled wells) are in the three areas outlined in yellow. Note that the seeps occur near the oil and gas oil fields. This is no coincidence.
The reason seeps are found close to major oil and gas fields is that most seeps are fed by these natural underground reservoirs. Just as springs are fed by underground reservoirs of water, oil and gas seeps are fed by underground reservoirs of oil and gas."
